Restaurants / Tacos and Tequila

Also known as TNT, the design for this restaurant finish-out in central Austin centers around two bars of its namesake, one for tacos and the other for cocktails. Inspired by contemporary Mexican architecture, the space combines bright colors of green and orange with raw, industrial materials. Structural wood Parallam beams were used as mullions for the exterior window system. A patterned, stained cedar wall and ceiling contrast with crackled white glazed ceramic tile and concrete countertops. Video art installations and a custom light fixture offer a sense of playfulness to the space. A large ‘cage’ of steel rebar, typically hidden within concrete, hangs over the bar and provides a focal point display for the bottles of tequila.
