Commercial / 4200 North Lamar
This project is the exterior façade re-clad of an existing two-story office building in central Austin. The existing brick pilasters were completely stripped to leave only the steel structure and roof. Materials of white stucco, wood, and steel were used to fully transform the look of the exterior into a clean, modern design, giving the building a previously lacking street presence. Large expanses of glass and a new enlarged front walkway on the ground floor brought visibility and pedestrian activity to the new retail and restaurant tenants. Slate gray colored concrete roof tiles clad the north end, including a small addition, to distinguish the anchor restaurant tenant, Uchiko, also designed by Michael Hsu Office of Architecture.
